Senior Frontend Engineer & Shopify Developer
I love to build things. 7+ years building, optimizing, and scaling high-traffic e-commerce and content-driven platforms — with deep expertise in Shopify theme architecture, Liquid, and modern frontend engineering.
I'm currently the Lead Frontend Engineer at Maxwood Furniture, where I own Shopify theme architecture and development standards across the organization, lead major theme launches and platform initiatives, and mentor developers through code review and technical leadership.
Since 2020, I've also run an independent frontend and Shopify development practice, partnering with clients like Penske Racing Shocks and The Adventure Challenge to design, build, and optimize high-traffic storefronts — from Online Store 2.0 migrations to complex cart, pricing, and discount logic.
My path here started in project management, including six years at Airbnb coordinating cross-functional teams and supporting large-scale events like SXSW and Sundance, before shifting into engineering through The Iron Yard's Front End Engineering program. That background shapes how I work today: equally comfortable owning technical execution and bridging product, design, and engineering.
Outside of work, you can find me spending time with my wife and 3 kids or I'm usually deep in a Metroid playthrough or tinkering with my own game projects — a long-term goal of mine is building games of my own someday.
Own Shopify theme architecture, development standards, and code quality across the organization, leading major theme launches and cross-brand platform initiatives. Establish scalable development workflows — from code review processes to structured work intake — and mentor developers through hands-on technical leadership.
Serve as the primary Shopify developer for a high-traffic e-commerce storefront, leading ongoing development, optimization, and platform evolution. Investigate and resolve complex cart, pricing, discount, and third-party app interactions, including advanced product option and pricing logic, while collaborating closely with a Product Owner and QA to ensure stable, predictable releases. Also supporting other freelance clients including Digital Momentum and Caden Lane.
Led frontend work on a Shopify Online Store 2.0 migration and built responsive, accessible UI components aligned with brand and business goals. Partnered with design, marketing, and product teams to ship revenue-impacting features, including subscription commerce initiatives that drove approximately $10MM in new annual recurring revenue.
